This is now my favorite Sugar Cookie recipe. I use this for all my cut out cookies. Easy to make, cut, and decorate.
- 1 C. (2 sticks) Unsalted Butter, softened
- 1 1/2 C. Confectioner’s Sugar
- 1 Egg
- 3 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 2 3/4 C. all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Cream together softened butter and confectioner’s sugar. Crack the egg into a separate bowl, and add the extract. Add to the butter sugar mixture and mix until the egg is thoroughly incorporated. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt, then add little by little to the mixture. Dough is ready when most of it sticks to the paddle. To the touch, it has a little give, but does not stick to my fingers. This makes about 2.5 dozen cookies. Cook for 7 minutes. Adjust the time for your oven.
Make sure the cookie sheet has cooled before you start your next batch.
