Bridal Shower Cookies – Dress & Cakes – Stencil & Royal Icing

I did this bridal shower set over the summer. Here are some pictures of the process.

The cutters I used:

Dresses, heart, scalloped square, circle, square. I had to use the square cutter to hand make the cakes. I made three rectangles and put them together.

I cut the shapes then put in the freezer for 15 min. before baking. These are cut shapes.

These are out of the oven. Let them cool for 10 mins. before putting on a cooling rack. I bake my cookies on parchment paper or baking mats.

I baked these late night and started to decorate in the morning. If you frost too soon you may get butter bleed. I normally like to bake one day and ice the next.

I piped the border and flooded the center. I used a spatula to spread out the icing. Use a toothpick to work out any bubbles.

I let these dry for about 7 hours. You will need to mix a thicker royal icing for the accents. I added small flowers and a little accent to each dress.

Some of the cookies I wanted to add the initial E. I used a stencil and scraped a darker color royal icing on. Your base layer needs to be completely dry before you can do this. With stenciling practice makes perfect (well I am not perfect yet, so I guess I need more practice). After you add the flowers and accents any “small” imperfections in the stenciling will not be noticeable. I then added flowers and accents using three colors. I used a small star tip for the flowers.
